Introduction
Chaos is not just the absence of order—it is the natural result of sin. When there is no submission to God’s authority, life becomes fragmented, relationships break down, and society spirals into confusion. This truth is vividly seen in the book of Judges, a time when Israel abandoned God’s commands and “everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” Today, our world mirrors that same spirit of lawlessness, and many believers struggle to bring order into their personal and spiritual lives.
The Nature of Disorder
The Bible reveals that sin thrives on disorder. Paul describes it as “the mystery of lawlessness already at work” (2 Thessalonians 2:7–8). At its core, sin is open defiance against God—a deliberate rejection of His authority.
In the time of the Judges, Israel’s rebellion against God led to a vicious cycle:

Disobedience → Oppression → Repentance → Deliverance → Back to Disobedience.
Their refusal to live under God’s order led them into repeated bondage.
The same is true today. Whenever we choose independence from God, we invite chaos into our lives.
True Liberty vs. Lawlessness
Many mistake freedom as the right to do whatever they please. But true freedom is the ability to live in alignment with God’s will. Jesus said, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36).
Lawlessness, however, is insisting on our own way, regardless of God’s Word. Proverbs warns: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12).
The Modern Parallel
Just like Israel, many professing Christians today ignore God’s Word. Influenced by self-centered philosophies and the pursuit of self-realization, they create their own image of God—one that suits their lifestyle. But such independence only brings moral and spiritual confusion.
Paul warned Timothy about this, saying: “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine… they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear” (2 Timothy 4:3).
If we claim to follow Christ, we must anchor ourselves in His Word, not in cultural trends or personal opinions.
Bringing God’s Order Into Your Life

Submit to God’s Authority – James 4:7 reminds us: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Live by God’s Word Daily – Psalm 119:105 says: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Walk in Love – Jesus declared that the greatest commandment is love (Matthew 22:37–40). Love fulfills God’s law and restores harmony.

Be an Example – In a chaotic world, living by God’s principles is a testimony that brings light and order to others.
Controlling Thought
When we fail to submit to God’s rules, we open the door to oppression. But when we walk in His Word, we experience true peace and freedom.
Prayer
Lord, may I set a good example of lawfulness by submitting myself to Your highest law—love. Help me to walk in Your order daily, and let my life reflect Your peace in a chaotic world. Amen.
