The Trap of a Hidden Weakness
A very smart young man in Lagos specialized in using fake bank alerts to deceive shop owners. One day, he defrauded a shop owner of ₦377,500 and disappeared. The police searched everywhere without success—until they found his girlfriend. When asked what weakness he had, she replied: “Sex.”
The police arranged a setup, and when the girlfriend called him, pretending she desperately needed him, he rushed over—straight into the arms of the police.
Samson’s Fall
This story reminds us of another man—Samson. He was a mighty champion who defeated every enemy that came against him. Yet, despite his great victories, he fell at the lap of Delilah because he never dealt with his greatest weakness.
Samson’s downfall was not the Philistines—it was his inability to master his desires. Delilah did not defeat him with strength, but with strategy, targeting his weakness.
Kill Your Weakness Before It Kills You
Every believer must recognize and deal with personal weaknesses. Is it anger, greed, fornication, addiction, alcohol, lying, or secret sin? Whatever it is, don’t tolerate it—it will eventually take you down if left unchecked.
The good news is that we are not helpless. The blood of Jesus Christ gives us power to overcome. The grace of God is sufficient to break every chain (2 Corinthians 12:9). But grace works when we admit our weakness and depend on His strength.
Controlling Thought
Kill your weakness before it kills you.
Prayer
Father, help me to be truthful to myself. Give me the humility to admit my weakness, the wisdom to avoid its trap, and the strength through Christ to overcome it. By Your grace, I will not be a victim but a victor, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
